How Our Story Began

Nick and I met over in 2012 during winter break while in college. I was staying with my best friend, who happened to be dating Nick’s brother. The four of us spent two weeks together hanging out during the break. When the spring semester started, we continued to spend time together and officially started dating shortly afterward.

On the Fourth of July 2015, we spent the entire day outside and on the lake. That evening, we were on a dinner cruise waiting for the fireworks to start. The boat was quite busy with people laughing and music playing. When the fireworks began, I pointed at them, telling Nick the show was beginning, only to look down and find him on one knee with the entirety of the boat passengers watching. Due to the complete shock of what was happening, I eventually stammered out a loving “yes,” and the night ended with watching the rest of the fireworks.

Our wedding was held near my hometown. Our brothers and sisters stood in as our wedding party, and our nieces and nephews each played a role in the ceremony, as well. Afterward, our reception was held in a lodge-style building overlooking a golf course. We played yard games outside and then came in for dinner and dancing. We, along with our guests, stayed at a nearby resort in cabins on the lake. After the reception, we enjoyed a wonderful evening at a bonfire with our family and friends.

We have now been married for over 5 years and cannot wait to start the next chapter by welcoming a child and their birth family into our lives!
